The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a spotlight on a lot of business’ shortcomings. When the unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) started providing relief to unemployed or struggling business owners through the TERS benefit – a lot of businesses found themselves unable to access the funds. It is the South African Supplier Diversity Council’s mission, to ensure all black supplier business succeeds by giving you access to information, tools and vital information your business needs.The SASDC and the Unemployment Insurance Fund have partnered under a collaboration agreement to share UIF related services and information.
What’s New
The UIF recently launched an e-Compliance Certificate System which is aimed at easing the process of application for compliance certificates. It is fast, easy and convenient.
About the UIF
The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), an entity of the Department of Employment and Labour is mandated to provide short term financial relief to employees during periods of unemployment and also makes provision for payments of (maternity benefits, illness benefits, death benefits, adoption benefits, paternity benefits) to qualifying contributors.
Why should you register with the UIF?
Employers are encouraged to register with the UIF, declare their employees and make their contributions as is required by the Contributions Act, 2002. Part of the benefits of being UIF compliant is that employers can obtain their UIF compliant certificate which can be supplied when bidding for work out there.
