The Women’s Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy (WEFL) Programme is aimed at fostering female entrepreneurship and financial independence. Our mission is to:

WEFL is available to Black women-owned businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs from South Africa and countries in our partner network, namely, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The WEFL Journey: What We Teach

The objectives of the course are to understand the foundations of women’s entrepreneurship and identify entrepreneurial opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The course is delivered by experienced national and international facilitators from leading universities, many of whom are business owners themselves.

Women work in groups, and the course culminates in a pitch presentation of a concept or business idea. The pitch includes the value proposition of the product or service, the target market, how it contributes towards sustainability, the investment needed and the profit potential.
