SASDC in Soweto: Turning Youth Ambition Into Economic Opportunity
At the Soweto Career & Skills Summit, SASDC engaged with young people, educators, training providers and industry stakeholders around a critical question: how do we turn youth ambition into meaningful economic opportunity?
Through Project EMBRACE, SASDC is working to strengthen pathways for young people aged 15–34 into skills development, employment and entrepreneurship.
At the Summit, we:
• Connected with learners and unemployed youth seeking opportunities
• Promoted the SASDC Job Market and future youth opportunities
• Engaged training and youth-development organisations around potential collaboration
• Explored partnerships supporting skills development, learnerships and Enterprise Supplier Development
• Listened to young people and gained deeper insight into the employment and digital-access barriers they continue to face
One message came through clearly: young people are actively looking for opportunities to participate in the economy.
The challenge is not simply creating opportunities. It is ensuring that young people can see them, access them and have the skills and support to take them forward.
This is where partnerships matter.
Through Project EMBRACE and our work across the skills-development ecosystem, SASDC is committed to connecting youth ambition with skills, networks and real economic pathways.
Because creating meaningful economic participation starts with making sure the pathway to opportunity is visible and accessible.
